Born in Osijek, Croatia, in 1996, Ena Katarina Haler lives and works in Zagreb, among other places. She studied architecture and urban planning there. Her debut novel Nadohvat (2019) received the Ksaver Šandor Gjalski Prize for Best Prose and the Ivan and Josip Kozarac Prize for Book of the Year.

She works at the Institute of Art History and regularly contributes to the weekly newspaper Express, writing about architecture, urban heritage, literature and film. Her most recent publication is Die Schuldlosen (translated by Klaus Detlef Olof, Folio Verlag, 2026).
